CHARLES E. WEST Charles Emory West, 75, of Pisgah Highway, Candler, died Friday, December 8, 2000, at the Hospice Solace Center. Mr. West was born in Buncombe County and was a son of the late Gordon and Elizabeth Young West. He was a Navy veteran of WW II and was a member of Hominy Baptist Church and Hominy Lodge #491 A.F. and A.M. He was the owner of Economy Tire in Candler. He is survived by his wife, Frances O’Kelley West; three sons, Ronald S. West, Michael G. West and Gregory T. West; three sisters, Elizabeth Greene, Dorothy Helen Taylor, and Vivian Roberts; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Sunday at Hominy Baptist Church with the Rev. Drs. Joe Yelton and C. Fred Werhan officiating. Masonic rites will be conducted by the Hominy Lodge No. 491 in the church cemetery. The lodge will open at 1:00 pm. Pallbearers will be Bob Christy, John Sutton, Jim Edmonds, Gary Sellers, Lester Bullock, Scott Banks, Ken Wilson and Jerry Alexander. His family will receive friends from 7 - 9 pm Saturday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.
