Charles Glenn McMinn, 66, of New Leicester Hwy, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013.
A native of Buncombe Co., he was a son of the late Charles H. and Vonnie Crook McMinn.
Mr. McMinn was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corp., having served during Vietnam, and was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.
Mr. McMinn is survived by his wife, Janice K. Payne McMinn; sisters Geraldine McMinn, Norma Jean Melton, Eula Hart, Mary Lance and husband Bill, Peggy McMinn, Rozanne Middleton and husband Sherman, and Louise McMinn; brother Tommy McMinn and wife Debbie; 4 step-daughters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Sherman Middleton officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
His family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

I worked with Charles at Cranston for many years. He was truly a gentleman. What I remember most is how he treated everyone with respect. He had a great laugh and seemed to enjoy his job. I pray he is at peace.Thankful that Vietnam memories can haunt him no more. He truly loved his family. My prayers are with you at this sad time. Rest in peace, dear friend.
