Charles (Jay) Lanning, 69, of Deavermont Circle, died Monday, February 13, 2012, at the John F. Keever Hospice Solace Center.
A native of Buncombe Co., he was a son of the late Robert Charles and Lillian Kathleen Calloway Lanning.
Mr. Lanning was formerly employed with Sparkle Wash By Lanning. He was a member of Georgetown Baptist Church.
Mr. Lanning is survived by his wife, Barbara Jean Lanning; daughter Donna Jean Wyatt; former son-in-law Skip Wyatt; grandchildren Noah Lynn Wyatt and Hannah Grace Wyatt; sisters Patsy Smith, Doris Quakenbush, Susie Roseborough, Nancy Burris, Joyce Moulds, Kathy Lanning, Debbie Harmon, and Sharon Anders; brother Jim Lanning; and best friend JR Roberts.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Craig Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hills Cemetery.
His family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
