Fletcher ~ Charlie Vaughn, 85, of 2246 Fanning Bridge Road, Fletcher, died Sunday, July 9, 2000, in an Asheville hospital.

Mr. Vaughn was born in Kentucky and was a son of the late C.A. and Mamie Knight Vaughn, and was married to the late Frankie Vaughn. He also was preceded in death by two sisters, Lena Mathis and Fanny Wayne Steele, and a brother, Thomas Vaughn. He was a retired automobile mechanic and was a former resident of Detroit, Michigan, where he was a member of Temple Baptist Church.

He is survived by a daughter, Kay Grigg and her husband, Harold of Farmington, Michigan; a grandson, Glenn Davis of Wixon, Michigan; two sisters, Cladice Huntoon and her husband, Wayne of Jackson, Michigan, and Emma Ruby Robinson and her husband, Ralph of Mt. Clemmons, Michigan; and a stepsister, Naomi Ruth Paris and her husband, Jerry of Fort Mills, S.C.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with the Reverends Greg Corn and Carl Mintz officiating. Burial will be in Pisgah Gardens at Pisgah Forest.

His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Long Shoals Road one hour prior to the service and requests that memorials be made to Skyland Baptist Church, P.O. Box 278, Skyland, NC 28776.
