Clara Davis Painter, 82, formerly of 130 Louisiana Ave., Asheville, died Monday, January, 8, 2001 in a local nursing facility. A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Everett Davis and Myrtle Dickerson Davis Webb. She was preceded in death by her husbands Carl Conley in 1946 and Jack Painter in 1980. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, David Conley in 1999. She is survived by her daughters, Wanda Ramsey of Hendersonville, Carlene Lunsford of Tampa, FL; sons, Ronald Conley of Asheville, Robert (Bob) Conley of Candler, Russell Conley of Asheville; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Green Hills Cemetery. Reverend Donald N. Welborn will officiate. Her family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Groce Funeral Home, Patton Avenue.
