Clarence Edwin Drumheller

clarence drumheller
Ed Drumheller, 87, of 9 State Street, Asheville, died peacfully at home on Thursday, August 30, 2007. Born Clarence Edwin Drumheller, Jr. in Shamokin, PA on May 11, 1920, he was a son of the late Clarence Edwin Drumheller, Sr. and Mary McClure-Drumheller. A veteran of WWII, Ed served his country as an Army Ranger in the Pacific Theater. In 1949 he graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in economics and worked most of his career at CBS, retiring from there in 1981. Ed was a resident of Western North Carolina for the last 17 years and was tremendously gifted in his capacity to enjoy life regardless of his circumstances. It seemed there was nothing he could not do; whether building his own house, cooking gourmet meals for friends, racing sailboats or growing beautiful flowers in his yard. He had a gift for life. Survivors include his sister, Elinor Jackson of Wheat Ridge, CO; two sons, Robert Drumheller and his wife Debra of Potomac, MD and James Drumheller and his wife Beth of Hamilton Square, NJ; three grandchildren, Byron, Chelsea and Harrison Drumheller and by his spiritual companion, Nicole Jobin. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 8, 2007, at Jubilee Community Church, 46 Wall Street, Asheville, NC 28801 with the Reverend Howard Hanger officiating. His family will receive friends following the service at the church. Many thanks to all Ed’s friends for the support and love demonstrated to him during the last days of his journey and to CarePartners Hospice for all their kindnesses.
