Claudette Carol Hamlin

Claudette Carol Hamlin, 81, died Friday, January 8, 2016, at her sister's home in Maiden. Miss Hamlin was born in Yancey County and was a daughter of the late Mae Huntsinger Hamlin and Oather Hamlin. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Sheri Nester and a brother, Jimmy Hamlin. She is survived by sisters, Bobbie Camby of Fairview , Wyoma (Bunny) Burke and her husband, Robert, of Maiden, and Helen Edmonds of Atlanta; and a number of nieces and nephews. Even though Claudette had physical and mental challenges during her life, she was blessed with a youthful loving spirit. She laughed easily and was obsessed with order. Her presence reminded us frequently about the simple things in life that matter the most. She raised our awareness of the many blessings we have been given over the years, one of which was Claudette. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Emma's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
