Cleta McCall Conner, 81, of Concord Road, died Friday, December 18, 2009 at the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock.
A native of Graham Co., she was the daughter of the late Dewey and Freeda Gunter McCall, wife of the late James Holbert Conner, who died in 1984. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Clara Sue Conner and two brothers, Otis and Obie McCall.
Cleta was a retired beautician and a member of the Shriners and the Moose Auxiliary. She attended Trinity of Fairview, was a Hospice Volunteer and was an avid bridge player.
She is survived by a son, Ralph Conner and his wife, Lovada, of Fletcher; two sisters, Freeda Edmonds of Mills River and Audrey Culburth of Wrightsville Beach, NC; a brother, Wilburn McCall of Morganton, five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian.
Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery in West Asheville.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.
I worked with Cleta in the salon while we both were hairdressers. She never failed to smile, laugh, and enjoy the clients she served, the coworkers she worked along side, or love her family. I will miss her.
