Constance Green Spangenberg, 98, died Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at the Elizabeth House.
Connie was born on July 17, 1910 to the late Judson and Mary Roome Green. She was a graduate of Patterson (NJ) Eastside High School and a 1928 graduate of Patterson Normal (Teacher's) School in 1930.
She taught first grade for nine years and was married in 1935 to her late husband, Leroy Spangenberg. She made her home in Short Hills, NJ. Connie moved to Laurel Park in Hendersonville in 1987 and then to Givens Estates.
Connie is survived by two nieces, Cynthia Galligani, of NJ and Ginger Hof, of CA.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 13, 2008 in the Asbury Commons Chapel at Givens Estates, 2360 Sweeten Creek Road (US 25-A), Asheville, NC 28803. The Reverend Joe Fulk will officiate.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Elizabeth House Hospice and Palliative Care in Flat Rock for their compassionate and tender care of Connie.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Four Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care, 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.

I was so very fond of Connie when I sold her the condo in Laurel Park. I will never forget her coming into the condo and not getting very far into the kitchen and asking if she could use the phone. She then called and said ‘Come quick! I just bought a condo!!’ I mentioned she might want to see the rest of it. Her response was she was going to turn off her hearing aid at 4 o’clock, have a glass of wine, look at the view and only leave feet first. What a delightful lady!!
