Coy Joe “Joby” Lance of Fletcher, NC passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his close family.

Coy was born September 22, 1942 in Cocke County, Tennessee, to the late Walt James Lance and Hazel Walker Lance. In addition to his parents, Coy was also preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Branks Lance.

Coy is survived by his daughter Tammy Riebell of Fletcher; two sons, Douglas Lance of Mills River and Ricky Branks of Arden; two brothers, Harold Lance of Hendersonville and Stevie Lance of Horseshoe; two sisters, Dorothy Wilkie and Linda Shields both of Hendersonville, as well as nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Coy’s legacy of compassion, humor, and dedication to others will continue to live on through his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.

His family will greet friends at the funeral home on Tuesday May 6th from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM.
A Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. James Shields officiating, in the Chapel of
Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
