  1. Mr. Mehaffey is truly one of the finest man of God. His obituary is a testimony to how much he loved his Savior Jesus. He will truly be missed. God bless and comfort his family and friends.

  2. Coy was such a pillar of our church and such a kind man. All I could think was how happy he would be to see the love of his life Ms. Clara.
You all are in our prayers. He will be missed.

  3. Worked with Coy at American Enka for many years. Also attended Church with him at West Asheville Baptist Church for many years. Will miss his Christian Spirit and wlllingness to serve. Will miss his sense of humor. Will miss him as my friend called
    “BUBBA”

  4. Coy Mehaffey was a faithful servant of the Lord. He served in almost every capacity of leadership in the church at one time or another. His desire and purpose in life was to honor His Lord by using his abilities in Kingdom work. Coy was a most lovable personality and he could relate to all kinds of people. He always sought to give witness to Jesus wherever he went. He was a dear friend and supporter of each pastor he ever had. He will be greatly missed on earth but he was joyfully received in heaven.

  5. Precious Coy and Clara welcomed me and my family to Asheville back in 1973, our having arrived from Fort Worth, Texas. From day one they opened their arms of friendship, love and laughter. Both Coy and Clara loved their Lord and Savior and desired that everyone had the same personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ as they did. Coy and Clara were a team in every aspect of their lives. They loved their Lord, their church family, their neighbors, community and perfect strangers. Coy was a faithful Sunday School Director, Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, and Outreach Leader. He loved life and found the funny side to everything. His laughter was contagious. His smile and words of encouragement will greatly be missed. Even as his health was failing, he daily shared his faith to all he met or with whom he talked. He touched many lives and I am one of those. Praise the Lord for our hope in Jesus Christ and our eternal home in heaven. We love you Coy!

  6. Coy was a Christian who was obedient to the command that we are to visit the sick and the home bound. He loved his Sunday School class and we loved him. He will be missed by all of us.

  7. Coy was a wonderful man, very kind and filled with empathy for those afflicted. He was generous and loving to all. He is with his beloved Clara now, rejoicing in Heaven.

  8. These two people must be named together, Coy and Clara, for they were inseparable as they served our Lord Jesus in church and in the community, in missions, and in all their travels. I am looking back as my Alvin answered the call to the Gospel Ministry, Coy and Clara were a wonderful support for us in prayer and commitment to helping as we served as well as many others. I am sad to see Coy leave us and yet there is rejoicing in Heaven as his welcome home has already happened. May the Lord comfort his family. Priscilla Morgan

  9. Coy & Clara are both missed! They were a big part of my early adult years & I’ve missed them since I’ve been away from Asheville almost 40 years now! Now he & Clara are together again!
