Dana Ellen Luther Jarrett, 39, of Asheville, died Saturday, March 25, 2000, at a local hospital.

An award winning writer and editor she was a native of Buncombe County and was retired from Highland Hospital in the public relations department. She authored the book “The History of Haywood County” and was the former editor of the CF Roundtable, a nationwide newsletter for Cystic Fibrosis. She was instrumental in the formation of the Eblen Foundation and was nominated for Woman of the Year for her volunteer work in the Eblen Foundation. She was a former member of the Junior League and a gifted jewelry maker.

Survivors include her husband, Keith Jarrett; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Reid and Pauline Jarrett; brothers-in-law, Bill, Dickie and Kim; sisters-in-law, Ann, Diane and Jeanette, all of Marion; and her parents, Charles Carroll and Mary Fletcher Luther of Asheville. She leaves behind many friends, especially Connie and Nancy and her two little friends, Burbank and Gabriel the cats.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Barry Lambert, Chad O’Shea and Jim Jenkins officiating. Burial will be at Green Hills Cemetery.

Her family will receive friends from 7:00 - 8:30 pm Sunday at the funeral home and other times will be at the home of her parents.
