Darlene Doraina Matthews Hill, 50, of Asheville, died Thursday, December 15, 2005, at her home. A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Eva Matthews Henderson and step-daughter of the late Roy Henderson. She was a graduate of Cecils Business College and worked at the Pizza Hut in Biltmore. She attended Pole Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include three children, Jennifer Hawkins, Elizabeth Hawkins and Larry J. Hawkins, Jr., all of Asheville; a sister, Elizabeth Henderson of Asheville; two brothers, Randall Henderson and Roy Henderson, both of Asheville; eight grandchildren and an adopted daughter, Nicole Thompson of Asheville. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Alf Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Eliada Home Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 am Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service. Flowers will be appreciated or memorials may be made to the Eliada Home Cemetery Fund, PO Box 16708, Asheville, NC 28816.

  2. We are greatlly sorry to hear about her loss. Tim and I are unable to attend. Tim is in the bed too sick to be around other people and sorry we are unable to attend. Darlene was a very special and nice person to us. We will miss you. But now you are with God and you are no longer sick and have no more pain in this old world. Merry Christmas to the whole family and sorry for your loss.

  3. Momma,I miss you so badly I can’t even put it into words.You always loved me no matter what, even though I wasn’t your real daughter. Life without you in it is very hard for me. I find myself wanting to call you and tell you what’s going on with me ,then I remember your in heaven with God.You are loved and missed more than words can say.
