  1. David will be extremely missed- I will miss him every week day because he was there 2 or 3 times a day coming in the classroom to visit with his baby girl Kirsten to tell her how much he loved her and to tell us funny stories of cute things she did. He would always smile and show such love in his eyes when telling these stories. We will all miss seeing him and getting the chance to talk to him every day. He was a great man and father who loved his children more than anything. He will be missed by all who were blessed enough to know him. – Ms. Donna

Courtney- I am so sorry about this. I didn’t get the chance to say everything I wanted to say to you at the funeral home because there were so many people and I didn’t know how to say what I was thinking. In a way I know how you feel and in a way I do not. My father was always severely depressed and he left when I was 13 but after he left he didn’t want anything to do with me so i have no father. But in a way i don’t know how you feel because your father DID love you so so much and he just had alot going on in his mind and he loved spending time with you and Kirsten and at least you got that chance to know the great man he was and knew how much he loved you. At least he did make that effort to show you and at least he did love you more than anything. There are just many things we could talk about sometime, please call me if you get a chance to. God will always be with you and so will your father. Remember ‘I Can Only Imagine’ is your father’s song to you in a way. He will always be there. Even though me and you didn’t talk too much I love you and I am sorry.

  2. I have worked with David as an umpire through Asheville Parks and Recreation and always thought the very best of David. David worked hard was honest, dedicated, and was the upmost professional on the ballfield. David had the respect of both players and fellow umpires. David was always willing to help new umpires with their training and was always dependable as a partner. I will miss him as a umpire and more so as a friend.

  9. Dear Family,
I’m so sorry for your loss. I loved David very much as a friend. He took me under his wing as an softball umpire and basketball official. He spent extra time with me and for that I will always remember what a wonderful person he was. He often reminded me of my father because my dad spent time with me as a kid helping me with my sports endeavors. I am going to miss him very much!!!!!! I know he loved picking. One day he brought his banjo to work to show off how excited he was about getting it and he even played it for me. I just wish we didn’t have to say good-bye to him. Last fall I remember he lost his grandfather and I remember how hard that was for him. So maybe we can find some comfort that at least they will be together. David with his bow and arrows and his grandfather and his stones.
    God Bless,
    Jesse
