David Lorain Brookshire, 74, lifelong resident of Asheville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on August 7th 2024 after a brief illness.

He was born August 6th, 1950 in Asheville to the late Lorain Balfour and Martha Williams Brookshire. On March 10, 1973, he married the love of his life, Sharon Phipps Brookshire, to whom he was married for 51 years.

David loved singing with the Asheville Choral Society and numerous other music groups throughout the years. He was a proud University of North Carolina graduate of the Kenan Flagler Business School and was a member of the UNC Men’s Glee Club. David could be found most Saturdays in the fall watching his beloved Tar Heels play football and looking ahead to the Green Bay Packers game on Sunday. David brought an enduring optimism to daily life, and his spirit of generosity and love will carry on in all of those whose lives he touched.
