D.E. Griffin, 78, of Sand Hill Rd., Asheville, died Sunday, December 2, 2012.
A native of Buncombe Co., he was a son of the late Henry and Ophia Wallin Griffin. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Hilda Capps Griffin.
Mr. Griffin was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Germany. He worked as a machinist and mechanic for Milco and Biltmore Dairy Farms.
Mr. Griffin is survived by daughters Joy Griffin and Sherry Griffin Keyes; grandson Dustin Griffin; and sisters Dorothy Rice and Barbara Burnette.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ralph Sexton and the Rev. Dwight Parrish officiating. His family will receive friends following the service. Interment with Military Honors will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Trinity Baptist Church Building Fund, 216 Shelburne Rd., Asheville, NC 28806.

Sherry & Joy so sorry that you have lost Dad and I also was so happy to be neighbors so sweet as your family when we in school.We are going to see him and the rest when we go to our real Heavenly home someday!May God give you both comfort and Peace at this hour and if you would like to have a shoulder to lean well- i will be here for you as long as I am on this earth.Take care okay?

I worked with D.E for a many of years at Milkco. He was a dear friend and will be missed.I am so proud he was a part of my life.He will allways be remembered by all of us here at Milkco.
So sorry to learn of D.E.’s passing. I worked with him at Biltmore.
