D.E. Griffin

D.E. Griffin, 78, of Sand Hill Rd., Asheville, died Sunday, December 2, 2012. A native of Buncombe Co., he was a son of the late Henry and Ophia Wallin Griffin. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Hilda Capps Griffin. Mr. Griffin was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Germany. He worked as a machinist and mechanic for Milco and Biltmore Dairy Farms. Mr. Griffin is survived by daughters Joy Griffin and Sherry Griffin Keyes; grandson Dustin Griffin; and sisters Dorothy Rice and Barbara Burnette. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ralph Sexton and the Rev. Dwight Parrish officiating. His family will receive friends following the service. Interment with Military Honors will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Trinity Baptist Church Building Fund, 216 Shelburne Rd., Asheville, NC 28806. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.
