Dean Milburn Crum

DEAN M. CRUM Dean Milburn Crum, 68, of 1045 Clark Branch Road, Asheville, died Tuesday, June 12, 2001, in an Asheville hospital. Mr. Crum was born in Greenville, TN, and was a son of the late Junius and Sophie Golden Crum. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Lorene Mosely, and two brothers, Jack Crum and Guy Crum. He was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict and was retired after 33 years in the bridge maintenance department of the NC State Highway Department. He was a life member of VFW Post 891. He is survived by one sister, Kay Fields and her husband Forester, of Asheville; two nephews, Michael and Steve Fields; one niece, Tammy Swayngim; and by his companion of 22 years, Ruth (Doc) Harper. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Thursday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with burial to follow at Newfound Baptist Church Cemetery. His family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
