Debbie Williams Hall, of Candler, died Sunday, January 29, 2006, at the Laurels of Greentree Ridge at the age of 100.
Mrs. Hall was born March 17, 1905, in the Big Cove section of Candler to the late Charles and Nannie Cole Williams. She was married to Gay Hall who died in 1968, and was also preceded in death by three sisters, Thelma Darrough, Charity Fowler and Hattie Morgan, and two brothers, Edom and Woodrow Williams.
She was a 1926 graduate of Candler School and earned a teaching certificate at Cullowhee in 1927. After teaching elementary school for one year she went to work at the new American Enka Corporation, where she stayed until retiring 36 years later.
Mrs. Hall always enjoyed gardening, canning, quilting and reading. She was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a number of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Phillip M. Hurst officiating. Burial will be at Dix Creek Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
