Emily Erdine "Dee" Ballard, 80, of Asheville, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2016.
A native of Wilmington, NC, she was a daughter of the late Thaddeus and Essie Wilson Petteway. Mrs. Ballard was a graduate of the Mission Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as an RN for St. Joseph and Mission Hospitals, primarily in pediatrics, and formerly as a head nurse. She was also a member of West Asheville Baptist Church.
Mrs. Ballard is survived by her husband of 54 years, Terrell Ballard; daughter, Julie Perkins and husband Larry; son, Tommy Ballard; and granddaughter, Candace Perkins.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at the Western Carolina State Veteran's Cemetery Chapel. The Rev. Ray Talley will officiate.

Terrell, Julie and Tommy…………..keeping you in my prayers as you go through this difficult time. Mrs. Ballard was a precious lady and I know you will miss her dearly. But praise God she has a new body now! No more pain, no more sorrows…..and one day we who know the Lord Jesus will be reunited. I love each of you and wish I could be at the memorial service but I will be in Honduras on a Youth Mission Trip. But please know I am praying for you!
