Diana M. Mooneyham

Mrs. Mooneyham was born in Buncombe County and was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Lyerly. She was a former teacher’s assistant at Swannanoa Elementary School and was also an Examiner with the NC Department of Motor Vehicles.
She was a member of the Democrat Party and was a former officer with the Democrat Womens Association. She was a Hospice volunteer and a member of the AMVETS and a member of Swannanoa Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Marvin W. Woods of Leicester; two grandchildren, Krystal and Candice Hampton; her mother, Virginia Stanley of Asheville; one step-grandson, Jesse Wayne Woods; her father, James Lyerly of Asheville; and two sisters, Betty Roberts of Asheville and Arita Owens of Greenville, SC.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 am Tuesday at Green Hills Cemetery with the Rev. Bob Sperry officiating.
Her family will receive friends after the service at her residence, 10 Sunset Drive, Swannanoa.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Cancer Care Center, Suite 100, 445 Biltmore Center, Asheville, NC 28801.
Heaven is more precious now
that Diana is with the Lord.

I remember Diana as a beautiful girl from high school. I have a picture of Diana (1960’s) when she and I attended a birthday party of one of our class friends. To her family, my deepest sympathy.

I am sorry to hear about your mom. Nataleigh had said she was ill, and I had told Nataleigh to tell you I was sorry to hear it. Just keep strong and with time, it gets a little easier, she’s up there with Moma and Ama, so she is in great company

She was my second grade teacher when i was 8 years old. I’m 21 now. Kind and understanding. She was special in many ways. She always knew me in public, even as i grew older. She taught me many things that won’t be forgotten. Thank you Mrs. Mooneyham for everything, I’ll miss you. God will take care of you now.I hope you can teach everyone in heaven all the wonderful things you taught me.
