‘Where could I go but to the Lord’
Jan, Karen, and family, we are all going to miss Aunt Dicie more than we can ever express. I know how much she loved her family and friends. But, as she said, there is nothing between her and God. She was such a wonderful aunt as well as a mother and friend to everone. We alll have our fond memories of all the years we had we her. Now she is in the Lord’s hands and celebrating her new life. The one we are all waiting for. To be absent from the body is to be in the hands of the Lord. She is in his Amazing Grace today with all her loved ones. What a glorious day that will be when we join her in Heaven. I am so proud that Wilma and I had cousins like you all. Please accept our sincere heartfelt condolances. Our prayers and thoughts are with you all. Love, Dallas and Charles Birmingham and family.
Dear Janice,

I WOULD LIKE FOR THE FAMILY TO KNOW HOW SORRY I AM TO HEAR OF DICIE S PASSING. I HEARD ON SUNDAY NIGHT AT TBC THAT SHE WAS VERY ILL. I AM BILL AUSTINS YOUNGEST DAUGHTER. WE USED TO VISIT THE FAMILY WHEN I WAS VERY YOUNG AND AUNT EMMA WAS STILL LIVING. SHE WAS CALLED ‘AUNT EMMER’ TO MY SISTER AND I AT THE TIME. I REMEMBER HAVING TO EITHER WALK THE FOOT LOG OR DRIVE THE CAR THROUGH THE CREEK. IT WAS SO EXCITING FOR US TO DO THIS. DICIE AND JESSE WERE ALWAYS WELCOMING TO US. THEY LET US PLAY IN THE CREEK AND OTHER THINGS. SO I DO HAVE FOND MEMORIES. WE ALSO VISITED A LETTLE LATER WHEN THEY MOVED TO ANOTHER HOUSE. SO MAY GOD BLESS YOU AT THIS TIME. HE WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU AND GIVE YOU GRACE.
Marilyn Cox and I were good friends throughout out school years. I spent many nights with her and her parents (as she did at my house on Gilbert Road) always made me feel welcome. I too enjoyed crossing the footbridge and Marilyn and I had lots of fun over the years. Apparently, Dicie had a long and full life and I know her family will miss her. We lost Mom in 2001 and Dad last year and we still miss them.
There is not enough words for the memories I had every Sunday for a couple of years, which has been almost 20 years. I wish to say how sorry I am mamaw Cox is gone. I am glad she had such a tight family to be around her. Two wonderful daughters near her. I miss all of you and wish I could have been there to see each one of you once again. You are in my prayers for comfort. I love you all. Thanks so much for the memories. With Love Karen Doan-Ray
