Donald "Don" Harry Gasperson, 74, of Horse Shoe, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Park Ridge Hospital. A native of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late Roy Roscoe Gasperson and Edna Bailey Gasperson. He was also preceded in death by his sister Betty Jo Gasperson Shipman and her husband, Cecil Shipman and brother-in-law, John Jackson. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Doris Hall Gasperson; his son, David Gasperson and his wife, Carolyn, of Fairview; his son, Dennis Gasperson and his wife, Franci, of Arden; his granddaughter, Lyndsey and her husband, David Weinke of Edneyville; granddaughter, Shannon and her husband, Jesse Sword, of Mills River; granddaughter, Taylor Gasperson of Arden; great grandchildren, Kaylee and Jackson Sword; his sister, Pat Jackson of Arden; and brother Ken Gasperson and wife, Connie, of Arden and several nieces and nephews. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all that knew him. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church on Overlook Road conducted by the Rev. Cecil Robinson. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.
