Arden – Donald Leroy Isaacs, 76, of Downing Street, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, January 19, 2008.
A native of Rochester, NY, he was the son of the late Samuel and Reva Bernstein Isaacs.
Don was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the U.S. Army.
He is survived by two sons, Randy Isaacs and his wife, Beth, of Churchville, NY, Rick Isaacs and his wife, Sherry, of Asheville; a stepson, William Steele and his wife, Jennifer, of Arden; a brother, Sherwin Isaacs of Irondequoit, NY; his former wife, Betty Isaacs Steele of Arden; four grandchildren, Sandra Isaacs, Shane Isaacs, Trey Isaacs and William A. Steele and one great grandson, Caleb Matthew Larson Steele.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, January 24, 2008 at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain conducted by Deacon Michael Zboyovski. Military rites will be provided by the Buncombe County Veterans Council Memorial Team.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058-5216.
Betty and family, Who will take over the fire works display or the driving up North for a visit. What a sudden and great lose for you…. he will surly be missed. Don is in great rest…. our prayers are with you.
Don, you will be missed far more than you could guess. we will miss our trips, and i have lost a great friend who was always there for me and my family when we called, thank you so much, you had so much pain i pray you rest in peace. love Betty
I’m so sorry to hear of Don’s passing. He was a good grandfather and made the long trip from North Carolina to Rochester many times. One thing I’ll always remember is the spectacular fireworks he would bring sometimes.

Very sorry for your sudden loss – we will always remember the great times we had watching the fire works Don would bring up north. I will keep you all in my prayers. Take care.
