Dorothy Bryson, 97, of Asheville, passed away Thursday, February 7, 2019, at Aston Park Health Care Center.
A native of Jackson Co., Dorothy was a daughter of the late Leroy and Martha Bentley Franks. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Howard Bryson; daughter, Linda Joy Bryson; sisters, Mildred Gheen and Ruth Swanger; and brothers, Fred, Sherley, Ray and Gene Franks.
Mrs. Bryson retired from Vance School where she worked as a secretary. She was a member of Abernethy United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her daughter, Patricia Lynn Bennett (Kevin); grandchildren, Hunter Bennett and Jessica Shetley (David); great-grandson, Maverick Shetley; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Abernethy United Methodist Church, 1418 Patton Avenue, Asheville on Saturday, February 16, 2019, at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Aston Park Health Care Center, 380 Brevard Rd., Asheville, NC 28806.
Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is assisting the family.

So sorry to hear of Mrs. Bryson’s passing. I have many fond memories of her from my days at Vance Elementary and how kind she always was.
