Earleen Garren Stamey, 94, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2008, in Katy, TX.
Mrs. Stamey was born in Hendersonville on June 8, 1914, to Edward J. Garren and Willie Myrtle Garren. On January 28, 1940, she married Everett Martin Stamey in Greenville, SC. Before moving to Katy, TX, in March, 1996, Earleen was a longtime resident of Asheville where she was a member of the Merrimon Avenue Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children, Gary Stamey and his wife Lynda of Dallas, Texas, Susan Stamey Hickman of Houston, Texas, and Dennis Stamey and his wife Brenda of Katy, Texas; grandchildren, Marty Stamey and his wife Julie of Nederland, Texas, Kim Tkach and her husband Tom of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Jeff Stamey and his wife Becky of Allen, Texas, David Alexander and his wife Cathy of Hendersonville, Christy Kennedy and her husband Alex of Katy, Kevin Alexander and his wife Jenifer of Raleigh, and Joshua Stamey and Jesse Stamey of Katy; as well as twelve great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Martin Stamey on July 21, 1983.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2008, at the Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel, in Katy, Texas, with Rev. Alex Kennedy officiating. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 17, 2008, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Enka, with Rev. Milton Hollifield, Sr. officiating.
