Eddie Alexander Boone, 78, of 71 Boone’s Farm Road, Candler, died Tuesday, June 11, 2002, in an Asheville hospital.
Mr. Boone was born in Madison County and was a son of the late Thomas Roscoe and Ina Mae Howell Boone. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Paul Boone and a sister Lucille Higgins. He was a Navy veteran of WW II and was a former employee of American Enka and a retire farmer.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mae Smathers Boone and two sisters, Barbara McElrath of Boone and Frances Pressley of Candler.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Friday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Metcalf officiating. Burial will be at Piney Mountain United Methodist Church Cemetery.
His family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
