Edna McCall Scoggins, 87, of 8 Pole Creasman Road, Asheville, died, Sunday, January 5, 2003, at the home of her granddaughter, Lissa. Mrs. Scoggins was born in Transylvania County and was a daughter of the late Julius M. and Lilly Galloway McCall. She was also preceded in death by her husband Paul A. Scoggins, a daughter, Joyce F. McCall and nine brothers and sisters. She worked as a private duty nurse and was a member of Bent Creek Baptist Church and the Golden Circle Sunday School Class. Surviving are one son, Jerry Forrest of Memphis, TN; three grandchildren, Lissa McGlamery (with whom she made her home), Michael Forrest and Kimberly Forrest; her only great-grandchild Christy Silvagni; a step-great-granddaughter Jamie McGlamery; her best friend of 50 years, Viola Jones, and many loving nieces and nephews. Her family wishes to extend special thanks to Ernestine Parton and all those who helped. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Ray Talley officiating. Burial will be at Pisgah View Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Monday at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Asheville Humane Services, 72 Lee’s Creek Road, Asheville, NC 28806.
