Edna Shepherd Griffin, 89, of Candler, died on Monday, May 14, 2012, at the Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem. A native of Macon Co., Mrs. Griffin was a daughter of the late Charlie and Myrtle Frizzel Shepherd and Elsie Elizabeth Shepherd, step-mother. She was also preceded in death by husbands, John Harve Swafford, and Francis Marion Griffin; daughters, Glory Jean, Margie Faye, and Betty Sue Swafford; sister, Beatrice Willis; brothers, Coleman, Prince, and Oscar Shepherd; and grandson, Keith Aaron Swafford. Mrs. Griffin was a member of Fairmont Baptist Church. Mrs. Griffin is survived by her husband, Charles Price; daughter, Patricia S. Smith; sons, David, Jerry, Ralph, TJ, and Curtis Swafford; 13 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. A funeral service for Mrs. Griffin will be at 6:00 p.m. on Friday at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. with Pastor Harold Webb and Asst. Pastor David Hall officiating. Her family will receive friends following the service on Friday evening at the funeral home.
