Edward William Sheppard, 87, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2015 at the V.A. Medical Center.
He was born September 1, 1927 in Oneonta, NY . He graduated from Otego Central in Otego, NY in June 1945. His parents were John and Valeda Giguere Sheppard.
Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by son, David; five sisters and one brother. He served in WWII in the US Navy from July 1945 to September 1948.
Surviving are his wife Nina Elliott Sheppard; daughters, Lorraine Bridges of Fletcher, Sherry
Wells (Ronnie) of Arden;sons, John Sheppard (Martha) of Hendersonville, Thomas Sheppard (Jo Ann) of Hacienda Heights, CA, and Alan Sheppard (Tammy) of Weaverville; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren; step-daughters, Karen Stewart (Jerry) of Fletcher and Sharon Wrenn of Leicester;
two step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren.
Services will be held Monday, March 23, at 2:00 P.M. at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery Chapel with burial to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Basilica of St. Lawrence, 97 Haywood St., Asheville, NC, 28801, or to V.A. Medical Center Hospice Center, 1100 Tunnel Road, Asheville, NC. 28805.
