Edwin Eure Johnson

Edwin Eure Johnson, 90, of Asheville, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2016, at JFK Solace Center. Born in Rocky Mount to the late John D. Johnson, Sr. and Fannye Eure Johnson, he retired as a Manufacturing Representative with Sealy Mattress Co., was past president of Haw Creek Lions Club where he was Lion of the Year three times. He was a faithful member of Groce United Methodist Church and served in WWII with the US Navy. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Faye Cogdill Johnson; one son, Michael Johnson (Teri) of Temple, TX; one daughter, Lynne Sterritt (Jim) of Cumming, GA; two grandsons, David Sterritt of Atlanta, GA and Matthew Sterritt of Alpharetta, GA; also a godson, Edwin Arrington of Charleston, SC. and many special nephews and nieces. A memorial service will be held Monday, February 1, at 11:00 a.m. at Groce UMC, with Rev. Gerald Davis and Rev. Avery White officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
