Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Paige, I can’t be there in person, but I wanted you to know I have you and Ross in my thoughts and prayers. Miss Ellie was a very, very special lady and I enjoyed all the times I talked with her. You have many wonderful memories to help comfort you. I am so glad you and she were able to go to Europe in November. That will always be a special time for you to remember. My hope is that the Lord will help you during this time. I love you.

  2. Ross….I loved how your mom managed you and Ryan. She was so good to Ryan and cared enough to keep him in line. I will be out of town for the memorial, but my thoughts are with you. Ryan has called and missed you all a bunch, but that is all he has talked about since Adam called him. My prayers are with you and Paige and Amanda. Love ya….Jayne

  3. Please accept my condolences in the passing of Ellie. During the last election for Steve, I got to know her and admired her drive in leading the campaign.

  4. We will miss Ellie. Her passion for children and their education
was a tremendous contribution to this community. Ellie was a beautiful woman inside and out.

  5. Sharing fond memories which my brother Marion and I have of Ellie since the 8th. grade at David Millard Jr. High School and through Lee Edwards High School. We remember her as a kind and enthusiastic person who treated everyone with dignity and respect. I (Maurice Whitaker) was fortunate enough to renew my acquaintance with her in the past year, talking about issues of common interest. She was truly an advocate for the people of this area, and a kind voice to those who knew her as a friend. My brother and I send our thoughts and prayers to all her family and friends.

  6. I am terrebly sorry to hear of your lost. Your mother and I were very close. We were always very glad to share a smile and a hug, even though we didn’t get a chance to see each other that often. If there is anything my family and I can do please let us know. Donnie

  15. Words cannot express my sincere love and sympathy at this time. All losses are difficult but sudden losses are so very difficult. Please know we love you dearly and would like to be there for you at any time. You Mother was very dear to me also.

  16. Hey Guys………
I really wanted to speak at the memorial yesterday; however, I, like Ellie, love to wax and wane (probably couldn’t have though). The thought that I wanted to share is this: ever since I first heard of Ellie’s death I’ve had one thought running through my mind………I’m waiting for Ellie to call and say, ‘hey……..gotta sec? I just have to tell you about the craziest thing that happened to me………’

All my love to all of you…..
    Pippa

  17. Dear Paige and Ross,

I worked with your mother in the circulation department of the Asheville Citizen-Times when she was the N.I.E. Coordinator and she became my friend and somewhat of a mentor to me, often having me assist her outside the office with teacher seminars for N.I.E.

I will always remember locking my keys in the car at K-Mart on Patton Avenue and all of a sudden there was Ellie walking through the parking lot. She took the time to try to help me, took me back to her house to look for her slim-jim and we ended up visiting for a while and she showed me things of interest throughout her house before returning to K-Mart.

She was always encouraging and I had fun with her and she mentioned the two of you often. My thoughts are with you.

  18. To Eleanor’s family – I was in Eleanor’s class at Lee Edwards and remember her with such affection and admiration. She did such a great job as well to make our 20th reunion so successful. I just want you to know that I am thinking of you during a time of immense loss for you. I saw Eleanor’s write-up in the Raleigh N & O and apologize for taking so long to express shared grief. Sincerely,
    Margie Anderson Pipkin
