Elexie Hensley Nelms, 85, of Pittsboro, NC, died Tuesday, April 16, 2013.
A native of Asheville, she was a daughter of the late Rev. Dallas A. Hensley and Bessie Hipshire Hensley.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Thomas Nelms.
Mrs. Nelms was a member of Sanford Church of God.
Mrs. Nelms is survived by her daughter, Gilda Nelms Stanley and husband Larry; son Charles Dallis Nelms and wife Jean; grandchildren Heather Stanley Underwood and Kristye Nelms Dillingham; great-grandson Christopher James Dillingham; sister MackSeane Gray Southerland and husband Stanley; and brother Joe Dallas Hensley and wife Carol.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Kevin Chapman officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Community Hospice, 103 Village Lake Rd., Siler City, NC 27344.
