Asheville Butterfly TrailMiss Garren was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Joseph Nelson and Sarah Durham Garren. She was a graduate of Lee H. Edwards High School and retired from Mutual of Omaha Insurance Co. with 35 years of service. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and also attended First Baptist Church. She was a member of the ABWA and a member of several bridge clubs.
She will be missed by her loving family, including one sister, Frances G. Martin of Napa, CA; a sister-in-law, Nelle S. Garren of the home; and four nieces and nephews, Jack S. Garren, Sandra G. Carter, Sharon A. Cobb and R. Eugene Martin.
A memorial service will be at 1:30 pm Friday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Gail Coulter officiating, after which her family will receive friends.

Lib was a very special aunt. Not only was she willing to share wisdom gained from experience, she was willing to share in the fun and wonder of life. We will always remember her laugh or the way she would say ‘Shewt’ when someone told her something unbelievable. We will always appreciate her love and concern for us as if we were her children. What a blessing she was to our family.
