Ellen Martin, 92, of Asheville, died on Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at her residence. Born in Detroit, MI, Ellen lived in Buncombe Co. for most of her life. She was a daughter of the late Fred and Leota Britton. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Sesto G.B. Martin; daughter, Nancy Pressley; son-in-law, Rickey Buckner; granddaughter, Laura Buckner, sisters, Ruth Lipe and Neeta Adkins; and brother, Fred Britton, Jr. Mrs. Martin was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church for all of her adult life. She was active in many groups and taught Sunday School. She also spent time volunteering at Mission Hospital. Mrs. Martin is survived by her daughters, Carol Martin and Janice Buckner; Janice's children, Christy Reeves (Dwayne) and son, Ty; Julie Shaw (Leon) and children, Mia, Eva and Eli; and Jeffrey Buckner; son, David John Martin and wife Cindy; their daughters, Haley Onderdonk (Dane) and son, Wyatt; and Heather Burns (Brian) and their daughter on the way; and Nancy's children, Timothy Mozingo, Michael Mozingo (Meriah) and sons, Ezra and Elliott; and Jennifer Minish (Kevin) and children, Drew (Megan), and their children, Gaia and Aiden; Bailey, Jake and Claire. The graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday at Green Hills Cemetery with the Rev. Ronnie Owen officiating. Her family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. Flowers are appreciated, or memorials may be made to the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Building Fund and/or to the Victory Baptist Church Meals Program.

    What a wonderful friend and neighbor Ellen has been to our family! She was a role model to us and many others in the community. She will be missed by many!
