Elsie Hyatt Israel, 80, of 8 Rosa Circle, Candler, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, June 22, 2003. Mrs. Israel was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Earnest and Sallie Hyatt. She was also preceded in death by brothers Charlie, Homer, Walter and Turner and a sister Mary. She was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. She is survived by her children, Nancy Calloway and her husband Terry of Canton, their children Mike Price and his wife Saralyn of Maggie Valley, Terry Calloway of Madison, WI, and Cindy Haney and her husband Matthew of Canton; Rick Israel and his wife Phyllis of Nebo, and their children Courtney and Justin; Deborah Adkins of Candler and her children Davey Adkins and his wife Lora Lee of Asheville and Jason Adkins of Melbourne, FL, and Jason’s daughters, Hanaa, Ayah and Sarah of Melbourne; and Mike Israel and his wife Lissa of Memphis, TN, and his children Meagan and Jeremy Israel and Meagan’s daughter Morgan, all of Spartanburg, SC; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Wednesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral home with the Rev. Max Smith officiating. Burial will be at Hice Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Mike Price, Terry Calloway, Davey Adkins, Jason Adkins, Jeremy Israel and Justin Israel. The family will receive friends from 7 - 9 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
