Emily Sue Dillard

November 30, 1915 ~ July 14, 1999
Mrs. Dillard was a lifelong resident of Candler and was a daughter of the late William Thomas Clendennon and Myrtle Eva Gaston Mallonee. She was married to Olin S. Dillard, who died in 1991, and was also preceded in death by two sisters, Eva H. Mallonee and Margaret Candler Duggan, and three brothers, Clendennon, Edgar and Thomas L. Mallonee.
She was a graduate of Brevard College and formerly worked at the Bank of Asheville. She was active in PTA and was former secretary of the NC Congress of Parents and Teachers. She was Western District Director of the PTA and former State Secretary of the PTA.
Mrs. Dillard was a life member, and former organist, pianist and choir director of Montmorenci United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Eva Sue and Jim Fox of Rosman; a son and daughter-in-law, Odell and Mary Sherman Dillard of
Jacksonville, FL; four grandchildren, Eddie Fox and his wife Kay of Carlsbad, CA, Kelly Fox of San Diego, CA, and Les Dillard and Sue Gwynn Dillard of Jacksonville, FL; and three brothers, Perry Mallonee of Candler, George Mallonee of Sylva, and Gaston Mallonee of High Point.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Saturday at Montmorenci United Methodist Church with the Rev. Terry R. Duckworth officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Nephews will be pallbearers.
Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is in charge of the arrangements.
