Asheville ~ Ernest Lenny Helton, of Helton Drive Asheville, died on Friday, April 15, 2005 at his residence. A native of Caldwell County, NC, Mr. Helton was the son of the late Sturgis and Helen Story Helton McKinney. He was also preceded in death by his step-father, Claude McKinney. He was a US Air Force Veteran serving during Korean War and was employed as a truck driver for Anderson Trucking. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Blackwell Helton; three daughters, Tina Helton, Kim Rich and husband Ron all of Asheville and Lisa Edwards and husband Ronnie of Arden; a son, Dwayne Helton and wife Laura of Asheville; eight grandchildren, Josh, Robbie, Joey, Amanda, Maggie, Amber, Justin and Brittany; three sisters, Naomi Shelton and husband Steve, Rachel Smith and Martha Goodman all of Asheville; one brother, Ray McKinney and wife Nora of Asheville; several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Monday 7:00 P.M. in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road with the Rev. Marvin Mathis and Rev. Larry Carver officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at Helton Drive address.

    I know that you are in a better place,but i steal MISS YOU A LOT.I steal think about all the things we did together, like the flea market,auctions and outside work you made me and Dwayne do on sat- mornings just so we wouldn’t lay around the house, we laugh about it now.there are a lot of things i would love to talk to you about.I know you are with a very special someone I never got to meet,so take care of everyone until we all get there.I LOVE YOU VERY MUCH!
