Esther Carney Kinser, 93, a long time resident of West Oakview Road, Asheville, died Tuesday, June 15, 2004. Mrs. Kinser was born in Knoxville, TN, and was a daughter of the late Andrew Jackson Carney and Annie Stephens Carney. She was preceded in death by her husband, E. Clyde Kinser who died in 1972, and by a son, C. Wayne Kinser and a grandson Michael Scott Kinser. She was a charter member of Grace Baptist Church where she served as church hostess and Sunday school teacher. She was an active member of the WMU and at the time of her death was the oldest member of Grace Baptist Church. She was a member of the Sand Hill Community Good Neighbor Club. Her hobbies included decoupage and interior design. Her skill in cake decorating was widely known and she was frequently asked to provide birthday and wedding cakes. Surviving are a son, Robert Kinser and his wife Cathryn of Asheville; six grandchildren, Bryan Lee and his wife Jonel Kinser of Winston-Salem, Cynthia Kinser Hall and her husband David of Asheville, Vanessa Kinser Osborne and her husband Eric of Asheville, Kay Kinser Williamson and her husband Tim of Panacea, FL, and David Wayne Kinser and his wife Kim of Asheville; seven great-grandchildren, Adam Kinser, Scott Kinser, Christina Hall, Kimberly Battle, Zach Williamson, Hunter Kinser and Lauren Kinser; two sisters, Genevieve Walker of Galveston, TX and Kay Hatcher of Chattanooga, TN; a daughter-in-law, Cindy Fulbright Kinser of Asheville; a former daughter-in-law Catherine Williams Kinser of Asheville; and a step-granddaughter Natalie Rice. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Grace Baptist Church with the Rev. L. Wayne Adkisson officiating. Burial will be at Green Hills Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Shane Huffaker, Albert Kanipe, Bill Edwards, Bob Ramsey, Don Felmet, and John Sprinkle. Her family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service and suggest that memorials be made to the Grace Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 718 Haywood Road, Asheville, NC 28806.
