Esther Lewis Creasman, 87, of 1919 Sundale Road, Johnson City, TN, died Tuesday, March 16, 1999, at Northside Hospital, Johnson City, following a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Creasman was born in Anniston, Alabama, and was the daughter of the late William Earnest and Bertha Ross Lewis.  She worked as a registered nurse in New Mexico and Florida and entered nursing administration in Asheville, NC, where she worked at the Orthopaedic Hospital during the polio epidemic of the 40's, and at Mission Hospital.  She went on to Smythe County Hospital in Marion, VA, where she was the director of nurses until her retirement.

She was an Episcopalian and was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Creasman in 1983, a step-sister, Inez Smith Gousch in 1987, a step-brother, Cooper Smith in 1984, and a stepdaughter, Charlene C. Kyker in 1992.

She is survived by a stepson, Charles E. Creasman, Jr. of Norfolk, VA;  three stepdaughters, Mildred Vick of Asheville, Eugenia Creasman o Spokane, WA, and Beverly Mayes of Johnson City;  and several stepnieces, nephews, and grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Friday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with burial to follow in Green Hills Cemetery.

Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
