FLETCHER ~ Ethel Fender Moore, 87 of Roberts Street, died Thursday, August 12, 1999 in a local health care facility.

A native of Yancey County, she was the daughter of the late Lavina Williams and Isom Fender, and wife of the late Harvey Moore, who died in 1978, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Rosetta Moore.

She was employed with the Buncombe County School System as a cafeteria worker with the Fairview Elementary School.  She was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by seven daughters, Maybelle Whitaker of Swannanoa, Cyleen Moore of Fletcher, Louise Harris of Hoopers Creek, Joanne Hall of Lexington, NC, Maxine Barnwell of Hendersonville, Marthine Shelton of Brevard and Vickey Ellison of Anniston, Alabama; three sons, Harold and James Moore both of Asheville and Ottis Moore of Old Fort; two sisters, Bonnie Hixon of Asheville and Gertrude Rice of Woodfin; one brother, Clyde Fender of Avon Park, Florida; twenty seven grandchildren, twenty five great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.

Graveside service will be held at 11 am Saturday, at the Boiling Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Reverend Charles F. Corn officiating.

Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is in charge of arrangements.
