Mrs. Walters was born in Dayton, OH and had lived in Asheville for most of her life. She attended Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and was a member of Edneyville United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her son, George Steven Grigg of Asheville; her parents, J.K. Lyda of Edneyville and Elsie Mae Laughter Lyda of Asheville; two sisters, Patricia L. Rich of Asheville and Katie Faye Sanders of Hendersonville; one brother, James Hilliard Lyda of Arden; and one grandson, Wristin Daniel Grigg.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Thursday at Edneyville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Ronnie Owen and the Rev. J. D. Amason officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Her family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Wednesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.
