Arden ~ Faye Klahr Keller, 71, of Arden, passed away Sunday, November 6, 2005 at the John F. Keever Solace Center after a long and valiant fight against cancer.
Faye was born in Jacksonville, Fla. on September 30, 1934 to Nellie (Boots) and William Franz Klahr. Faye and her brother William Richard had a wonderful life growing up at Bolles Military Academy. She graduated from Landon High School in 1952 and worked at the American National Bank in Jacksonville until 1957 when she married Randal Thomson and moved to San Antonio, Tex. where she raised three children. Being a mother and raising her children was her greatest joy. Faye was active in the PTA for 14 years and received a Northeast School Award.
Faye was single in 1995 and while visiting her mother in Jacksonville, met her future husband, Nicholas Keller, who was visiting his mother at the time. Faye and Nick married on November 8, 1996 and they later moved to the beautiful mountains of North Carolina.
Faye was dearly loved and will be missed by her husband, Nick, who tenderly cared for her during their marriage and especially during the last few years during her illness. Nick set a wonderful example of love, faith and sacrifice. She will also be missed by a daughter, Cindy Thomson Munk and her husband, Bill of Savannah, Ga.; sons, Randal Wayne Thomson of Aurora, Col. and Perry William Thomson of Austin, Tex. and a granddaughter, Jennifer Ann Thomson of Austin, Tex. Faye is also survived by her brother, William Richard Klahr and his wife Mary, of Jacksonville, Fla.; nephew Michael Klahr and niece Lynne Hess, her husband Wayne and their daughter Tara Lynne Hess.
Those who knew Faye will remember her for her smile that could light up a room, her enormous capacity for kindness, her gentle nature, her beautiful voice, her love for her children, her pride for Jennifer, her rose garden and most of all her faith in God.
We will celebrate the life of our beloved Faye with a visitation at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Sunday from 3:30 to 5:00pm. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday at the Cathedral of All Souls Episcopal in Biltmore Village with The Very Reverend Todd Donatelli officiating. Interment will follow in the WNC Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the John F. Keever Solace Center, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.
