EVIE WOODY STEVENS
Evie Woody Stevens, 81,
of O’Donald Road, Asheville, died
Tuesday, November 11, 2003, in a
Monroe, NC hospital.
Mrs. Stevens was born in
Haywood County and was a daughter
of the late Furman and Mary Keener
Davis. She was married to Wilson T.
“Bill” Woody who died in 1971 and
Douglas D. Stevens who died in 1992,
and was also preceded in death by
two sisters, Beulah Finley and Eunice
Wallin. She was a member of Dix
Creek Chapel United Methodist
Church.
She is survived by a son,
Paul S. Woody and his wife Annie of
Monroe; three grandchildren, Stacy
Woody and his wife Tara of Monroe,
Misty Outen and her husband
Dewayne of Waxhaw, NC, and
Jeremy Woody of Monroe; five
great-grandchildren; six sisters,
Dorothy Sayles and Faye Ward of
Swannanoa and Barbara Rhinehart,
Ruby Treadway, Arlene Hart and
Freida Parsons of Michigan; and
three brothers, Billy Davis of Old Fort
and Loyd and Buford Davis of
Swannanoa.
Funeral services will be at
11:00 am Friday in the Patton Avenue
chapel of Groce Funeral Home with
the Rev. DonaldN. Welborn officiating.
Burial will be at Ashelawn Gardens of
Memory.
Her family will receive
friends from 7:00 - 8:30 pm Thursday
at the funeral home and request that
memorials be made to the American
Cancer Society, 120 Executive Park,
Asheville, NC 28801.

When my daughter,Kimberly was young Arlene took her to your parents home with her. She loved them as much as they did her. They will always have a special place in our hearts. God Bless to you all!
