Faye Ballinger Harper, 90, of Asheville, died Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Aston Park Healthcare Center after a period of declining health.
She was a daughter of the late John Sluder and Ethel Parker Ballinger, and wife of the late Howard Franklin Harper. She was also preceded in death by sisters Lois Brooks and Katherine Horton, and brother John Hugh Ballinger.
Faye is survived by sister Blanche Brazille and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service for Mrs. Harper will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17 at Calvary Episcopal Churchyard, Fletcher, NC, with the Rev. Charlie Sams officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Western Carolina Rescue Ministries, PO Box 909, Asheville, NC 28802.
Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.

Faye was my moms best friend since grade school.
She was like a second mom to me.

Faye was a huge part of my childhood. Howard was the person that started me playing golf and I played many rounds with Faye over the years.Hope her,Howard, dad and Lois get to play all they want now.
