Flora Mae Wright Roberts, 88, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at her home after a brief illness.
She was born to the late Charlie and Callie Wright on February 14, 1926, a special valentine for all who knew her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, the Rev. J.C. Wright.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 72 years, Wade B. Roberts; a daughter, Peggy Roberts Lance and husband Sheldon of Candler, NC; granddaughters, Kim Lance Hartless and husband Kevin of Forest, VA, and Karena Lance McCoy and husband Jon of Candler, NC; and great-grandchildren, Savannah, Connor, and Carson Hartless, and Jake and Andrew McCoy. Nanny will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was selflessly devoted to her family.
Flora is a member of Victory Baptist Church, serving on many jobs in the church, and a member of Sunshine Club. A graduate of Leicester High School, she retired from Square D. She always made people feel at home and loved to cook and feed people, especially with her homemade biscuits. Those who loved her most called her 'Nanny'.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Revs. Larry Sprinkle and Danny Gasperson officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Her family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Wade, Peggy, and family…….Flora was a beautiful person who loved you all very much, and was always talking about all of you every time I visited with her and Wade. She will be deeply missed, our loss is definitely Heaven’s gain! I will miss my visits with her. I am praying for all of you….She was a very special lady to me personally..

Dear Wade, Peggy and Family.
Sorry to hear about Flora Mae’s passing. Mother passed away on Sunday @ 12:45a. Funeral was Tuesday. I will keep you in my prayers, and will always love you as a brother.
I have lots of good memories of working with Flora at Square D. She was such a sweet person. I have thought of her often over the years & sad to hear she has passed. I still have the recipes she gave me. My prayers are with the family.
