Frances Juanita O'Kelley West, 92, of Candler, died on Saturday, February 4, 2017. Mrs. West was born in the Hominy Valley of Candler to the late Wiley Z. and Nora Magdalene Norton O'Kelley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Emory West; siblings, Revalell, Roselle, Mary, Roy, Ray and Odell; and granddaughter, Ashley Brooke West. Mrs. West spent many years helping her husband run their store, Economy Tire, in Candler. She loved spending her free time playing bridge and crafting. She was particularly skilled at quilting and created many works of art within her home. She had also been a member of Hominy Baptist Church for close to 40 years. Mrs. West will be remembered as a loving mother and devoted wife. Mrs. West is survived by her three sons, Ronald S. West and wife Nancy C., Michael G. West and Gregory T. West; grandchildren, Kelly Rose West, Margaret Caitlyn West, Sean Alexander West, Grayson Richard West, Anna Frances West, and Charles Ryan West and wife Rachel, their daughter and Mrs. West's great-granddaughter, Clover Sage West; and beloved, Sherry Scott. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at Hominy Baptist Church with Pastors Dr. Joe Yelton, Paul Raybon, and Melissa Hughes officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 Wednesday evening at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. Mrs. West's family wishes to express their thanks to Bella Vista Retirement Living an to Advantage Home Care Services for the compassion and care shown for Mrs. West.

    I was very sorry to read of the passing of Frances. I extend to all of you my
    sincere sympathy. I regret that I will be unable to attend Wednesday evening or the Services on Thursday morning. I am in the midst of a real case of flu. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

    Frances was surely a champion Bridge player. For many years her name was included in the newspaper’s outstanding players each week.
