Frances Louise Lipe Lunsford, 80, of Asheville, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2009 at her home. A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Letha Moser Lipe. Frances worked and retired from Mills Manufacturing as a seamstress. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her son, Michael Dean Lunsford; two daughters, Linda Sue Lunsford and Judy Dianne Lunsford Rice and several brothers and sisters. Surviving are her granddaughter, LaDonna Roberts of Asheville; five sisters, Dixie Beachboard, Betty Jones, Lib Reece, Maxine Hipps all of Asheville, and Mary Lou Maynard of South Carolina and a brother, Jerry Lipe of Asheville. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. with Rev. Dr. Buddy Corbin, Care Partners Hospice Chaplain. Interment will follow at Green Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to CarePartners Hospice P.O. Box 25338 Asheville, NC 28813.

  2. To the family of Frances Lunsford, I am very sorry for your loss. My mother,Ethel Lunsford worked with Frances at Mills for many years,she also retired from there. Frances and mother were good friends and kept in touch after retirement until mother was diagonised with alzheimers. Mother remembers very little now but I’m sure she would be pleased to know I have contacted you, as I am sure she would do. God bless you as you suffer this loss.   3. I am very sorry for your loss. I do not remember Frances but I do remember my father – Woodrow Lipe – talking about Frances. I am the youngest daughter of Woodrow Lipe who was the brother of Frances. I am truly sorry and if there is anything that I can do please let me know. I don’t know a lot of my family on the Lipe side and would like to get to know them.
