Frances "Frankie" Ramsey, 89, formerly of Pinecroft Rd., Asheville, died on Thursday, September 18, 2008, at Aston Park Health Care Center. Mrs. Ramsey was born in Watauga Co., and was a daughter of the late William Franklin and Ruby Spainhour Miller. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow C. "Red" Ramsey, who died in 1990. Mrs. Ramsey graduated from the Duke University School of Nursing, and had been the Director of Nursing at the Western North Carolina Hospital for Chest Diseases, in Black Mountain. She was a member of Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church. Mrs. Ramsey is survived by her daughter, Robyn R. Carter and husband Dale, of Atlanta, GA; son, Dr. Gary H. Ramsey and wife Sharon, of Marshall; sisters, Lorene Parker, of Boone, Carolyn Siphers, of Raleigh, and Josephine Crowder, of Williamsburg, VA; five grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. A funeral service for Mrs. Ramsey will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. with the Rev. Butch Stillwell officiating. Entombment will follow in the Ashelawn Gardens Mausoleum. Her family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to CarePartners Hospice, P.O.   1. It was truely a blessing to share in a short peroid of Frankies life. To know her was to entertained for hours. She was funny, kind hearted, and very intelligent. You never knew what she was going to say or do next and that is what made her totally ‘Momma’. Heaven is blessed with her presence. They really did recieve a true angel.

  2. It was a true blessing to have somebody as loveable and sweet as Frankie in my life for the last 20 years. the times we shared together i will always hold in my heart. May god bless her and her family.

  3. I have heard many great stories about Frankie from her son Dr. G.H. Ramsey. She was an awesome woman that had a big heart and loved her family. I know in the later years the disease had taken her but the memories of her life will always be remembered. My thoughts and prayers go to her family and friends.

  5. The family of Lilly Tomlinson – Frankies roommate at Aston Park -sends there deepest condolences to her family. It was a pleasure to know such a sweet lady. I would talk to her everyday and it was always so nice to see her sweet smile. Lilly has been so lucky to have such a sweet roommate and misses her very much. Our Thoughts and Prayers are with you.

    I just want to tell each of you how sorry I am about your loss of a precious mother and grandmother. She was a sweet lady who had so much love for everyone in her life. I respected her so much over the years as she worked, played tennis, and welcomed us in her home. Even when I saw her in the last years, she still had that beautiful smile on her face. I will be praying for all of you in the days ahead.

  7. Im sorry for your loss. From the stories I’ve heard she was well loved. She was a great story teller when she come into the clinic and visit Dr. Ramsey.We learned many things about him. She will be missed. Let me know if you need anything

  14. I’m one Jonnie Turner grandsons. When I came to visit my nana who lived with Ms.Frankie I came to love her as I did my own nana. She was a very sweet lady and easy to love. I’ll miss her so much.

She still had the sweet smile and a kind word no matter how bad she felt.I know she isn’t hurting nor suffering anymore. I will miss her always. I know you are in a BETTER place now. That gives me comfort. I hated to see you in that place. Thank you for opening you’re home to me when I needed one. A very special lady you are.
