Frances Shipley Ray

Frances Elizabeth Shipley Ray, 72, of Crescent View Retirement Center, Arden, died Friday, December 28, 2001, at the Hospice Solace Center. Mrs. Ray was born in Maynardsville, TN, and was a daughter of Cleester S. Shipley and the late Benjamin Shipley. She was married to the late John A. Ray, Sr. She was a registered nurse and a member of Oteen Baptist Church. In addition to her mother she is survived by one daughter, Sheila R. Dunlap, and two sons, John A. Ray, Jr., and Mark T. Ray. Funeral services will be at 1:30 pm Sunday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with burial to follow at Green Hills Cemetery. Chaplain Jane Curran will officiate. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and acknowledge with gratitude the care rendered by Crescent View Retirement Center and by Mountain Area Hospice.
