Frances Wilkey Whitted passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at the age of 85. She was born in Buncombe Co. on August 21, 1930 to the late J. Gus and Hazel M. Wilkey. She was also preceded in death by Dennis H. Whitted, father of her daughter Linda, and several brothers and sisters. Frances was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church for several years. She worked for American Enka/BASF for twenty-six and a half years in the controller department. She retired from BASF on August 31, 1991. Frances is survived by her daughter, Linda Brooks and husband Bud, and by her granddaughter Cindy Brooks and husband Merlin, all of Sylva. She is also survived her sister Alice Morgan and daughter Kathy Vandermolen, and by several nieces, nephews and great- great nieces and nephews. She had lots of friends and extended family members she loved dearly. At her request, there will be no services. Private burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Enka, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to one's favorite charity. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.

  1. Dear Cindy, Linda and Family, Frances was such a lady. She was of the generation when that meant so much and she practiced it. We have missed her at Church for quite a while, but she was still a presence there. Please accept out heartfelt condolences and know that you are in our prayers.

  5. Years ago, Frances used to visit our church at Starnes Cove, with some of her friends years ago. She was a fine lady, full of life, had a great smile and wonderful personality. My condolences to her children and family and may God bless you all!

  6. I am so very sorry to hear about Mrs. Whitted! I work at the eye doctor she went to and I came to love her so dearly! She was one of my favorite patients! Every time she would come into the office, I just had to hug her. We became very close! I will truly miss her ! She was one of the sweetest people I have ever met ! PRAYERS TO YOUR FAMILY , AND GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
